Lawmaker hopes to add agricultural amendment
News

OKLAHOMA CITY–  A House lawmaker is hoping a file a bill that would allow Oklahoma farmers and ranchers to use modern and traditional agriculture practices.

Rep. Scott Biggs wants to place a state question on the ballot in 2014 that would amend the state constitution.

That amendment would prevent any state law or regulation that would infringe on the right of farmers and ranchers to “employ agricultural technology and modern livestock production and ranching practices.”

The representative from Chickasha says he came up with the changes because of arguments by animal rights groups and ecologists.

If approved, the question would be put on the Nov. ballot in 2014.
